Hop on to do good

The “Do Good Bus” inspires community and volunteers to do good deeds accross North America. The bus tour conducts mystery volunteer activites with the good samaritans who sign up ahead in time to take part in the “Do Good Bus” ride. Missions can be anything from feeding the homeless, to organizing a carnival at camps for kids, handing out books to kids from the lower income strata and much more …

Could you imagine organizing something like that in your community?

Exciting London

Which means of transport do you use usually?
As I already said: My bike.

Why do you use it?
It’s still convenient and I’m independent =)

Which is your favorite means of transport?
I can’t really tell. They all have pros and cons.

Why? What else? I really love the way people in London reinvent everyday goods. We just happend to pass by an old car which was turned into an advertising pillar. =)

Manhattan in Motion

4 minutes worth watching: “Manhattan in Motion” is a excellent time-lapse by Mindrelic (with a hint of tiltshift I guess). No surprise that it’s called the city that never sleeps.

No parking in Paris

Which means of transport do you use usually?
I prefer using public transport (metro, bus).

Why do you use it?
In Paris it’s a lot easier to go around by using the Metro (subway). Using a car is quite difficult because parking slots tend to be occupied and if you get one you have to make sure that you don’t pull the hand break. As Paris is lacking parking space people usually push your car a little bit forth or back to fit in the small slots. That is why most cars in the city are old and covered with bumps and scratches. (like on the second picture)

Which is your favorite means of transport?
I occasionally take the Batobus, which is a public boat line that connects the most important sights along the Seine.

Why?
It’s a great trip and you can watch all those tourists enjoying their stay in Paris. I happend to sit next to a group of some American girls celebrating their bachelor party in funny dresses. I love this nice and funny moments… You’ll have to try it yourself.

Waiting for a metro at Chelyabinsk (Russia)

Trolleybus Chelyabinsk

Which means of transport do you use usually?
I usually take the bus.

Why do you use it?
It’s the cheapest way to get around.

Which is your favorite means of transport?
It would be great if they would finish the metro. They started constructing it in the 1980s – but the opening is scheduled for 2017.

Why?
Chelyabinsk is a quite big city but it’s an industrial city. I think the 3 planned metro lines would make it more comfortable to get around.

Camello Transportation in Havanna

“Camellos”, also called camels, is an urban means of transportation in Havanna that arose in the 1990s during the economic crisis.  The hump-backed camellos are trucks with 18 wheels and flatbeds transformed into bus-like carriages able to transport more than 300 people.

But the camellos gradually disappear from the city centre, and being replaced by imported articulated buses in order to provide comfort and more frequency. But the Cuban transport ministry plans to keep camellos for mass transit from peripheral neighborhoods to the center of Havana in the future.

Replacement buses (Graz, Austria)

Which means of transport do you use usually?
I usually take the tram or buses.

Why do you use it?
At the moment I am using replacement buses because there are lots of road works during summer time.

Which is your favorite means of transport?
I really like taking the train for longer distance journeys.

Why?
Because it’s much more comfortable than going by car – as long as the trains are on time. I usually read a lot or listen to my podcasts while traveling – things I wouldn’t be able to do while driving.
