Identity sucks!

What is it all about? A lone wolf or a group, sex or love, a fight or a cuddle, art or commerce, revolt or bank job? What is your goal? And why? What are the concerns of identity seekers all over the world for growing (up) their identity? What conditions does our world offer to young people in their search for self-discovery?

We are looking for photographs of teenagers from around the world. We are seeking answers to the question of what their personal life goal is and why. It will be exciting to find out what factors – age, social structure, cultural background, etc. – influence the lives of young people and what commonalities (or differences) there are between countries.

We are inviting motivated people to contribute with their opinion and observation in a visual or journalistic way.

The objective is to capture one portrait, or a range of portraits, of one or a series of youths.
This should include his/her or their names, age/s, home town and country, as well as the very important answer to the questions:

- What is your life goal?
- And why?

To contribute please follow the instructions “how to submit”.

If you have any questions, please get in touch with us!

Saki Chikaraishi, 28, Saitama, Japan

Name: Saki Chikaraishi
Age: 28
Hometown: Saitama, Japan

What is your lifegoal?
My goal is knitting around the world.

Why?
The reason is that I am greedy man.
Therefore, I want to see all over the world , experience various cultures, to touch a person all over the world, and to see the inheritance. Because I live in the earth with great pains. The globe type robot made of wool named “ManGlobe” appeared from my such wish. Is he made of wool why? I do not understand it either. But, Wool became an indispensable material for me after that. Anyway, I thought I am able to trip all over the world to be while leaving signs that I had visited. It is possible as long as wool and the needle are carried about. I deliberately knit with the improvisation occasionally on the ground this ground at times and leave it. It is possible to become local people happily if knitting.

February, 7th 2010 22:54:19 / by Amira Abdeen

Amira Abdeen, 21, Cairo, Egypt (Currently United Arab Emirates)

Name: Amira Adeen
Age: 21
Hometown: Abu-Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

What is your goal?
Ever since I was a child and I saw my brother drawing for the first time, I knew I wanted to become an artist. I loved to draw and I started learning other things as well, such as making things from clay and stitching names and designs on clothes or bags with thick thread or beads. As I grew older and graduated from school, I had changed my mind about becoming an artist. I realized that I had a great of interest in the way advertisements were made and I knew it had to take a lot of creativity to come up with different ideas that portray a product. As I started to think more about that I came to a conclusion that I wanted to be involved with advertising. My life goal now is to start my own advertising agency and make a difference in the world of advertising in the UAE

And Why?
I think that the advertisements in the UAE lack creativity and by starting my own agency I would fulfill my passion of art and creativity. There will be a lot of strategic planning involved as well and I plan on using my talent to make the advertisements unique and stand out among the rest of them in the UAE.

February, 3rd 2010 18:49:29 / by Uzma Azami

Uzma Azami, 21, Hyderabad, India (currently United Arab Emirates)

Name: Uzma Azami
Age: 21
Hometown: Dubai, United Arab Emirates

What is your goal?
I will soon be getting married but I want to start my own advertising agency. My life goal is to maintain a balance between my married life and my professional aspirations.

And Why?
The Indian culture expects a girl to be a good wife and mother. The world today demands people who are bold, outgoing and ambitious. I have a bit of both sides in me. I got engaged a few months ago, and I graduate a few months later from today. The balance between maintaining the essence of both a married life and a professional life is a true reflection of my many thoughts. I want to do both, without any conflict, so that ten years from now I can proudly say that I am blessed with a beautiful family and a successful advertising agency.

February, 3rd 2010 18:48:57 / by Lujain

Lujain Ramiz, 21, Chennai, India (Currently United Arab Emirates)

Name: Lujain Ramiz
Age: 21
Hometown: Chennai, India

Goal:
To understand the perplexity that is the human mind.

Why?
I believe that anything understandable is attainable, and anything attainable is manipulable. Holding the key to the human mind would foremost allow me to manipulate my own mind into believing it has abilities and potentials I would have otherwise never thought I was capable of. And when the mind believes and makes orders, the body follows.

In addition to having power over my own mind, it would also give me power over other people’s minds, instead of having me wondering what the hell they’re thinking of.

I want to be able to shape everyone and everything that makes up my life to assure that I always get what I want in exactly the way I want it. Not necessarily in the negative connotation that it is perceived to be. :)

February, 3rd 2010 10:25:06 / by Roula

Roula Ellazkani, 20, Syria (currently living in United Arab Emirates)

Name: Roula
Age: 20
Hometown: Syria

What is your goal?
My goal for the far future is not definite yet. So far, my goal is to seize every opportunity I can get and live life as best I could.  I enjoy living each moment as it comes without planning for it, regardless of whether I find that moment good or bad. Just like the water fountain that feels and moves along with the music without any objection over what music is being played. Even though things in life don’t always work out our way, I believe life to be as beautiful and meaningful as a dance festival.

And Why?
Because I believe that living every moment by itself will make me more enthusiastic and eager of what will happen with me next. Furthermore, without planning for my future I will feel every moment better because I will be concentrating only on this moment without thinking or planning for other things so I will be learning more lessons from it and taken many advantages.

Narita Rajab, 20, Kavkaz (currently living in United Arab Emirates)

Name: Narita Rajab
Age: 20
Hometown: Kavkaz

What is your life goal?
“Life Goal”, wow it is a big word. When I say my life goal then this should be my dream. I’ve always thought of being a professional photographer and have my own gallery, to show the world my own style of taking photos.

Why?
Because I find my self in it and I enjoy every time I hold the camera and start capturing different pictures. The lens of the camera is like my eye; I want it to look at everything around me deeply and carefully. I enjoy a lot when I take a picture because I take it the way I want, with my own touch in it.

Mariam Tamimi, 18, United Arab Emirates.

mariam

Name: Mariam
Age: 18
Hometown: United Arab Emirates.

What is your goal ?
At different points in my life, I wanted different things whether they where educational, personal or financial goals; however, all those goals are intertwined and connected but they remain undefined. Currently, I study Design Management and I am very excited about the many doors and opportunities it will open for me after I continue my studies and graduate. But despite that, I still believe my major goal is not defined. I know that I want to have a good time and give the best I have. At the present, my main concern is to always to be surrounded by my loved ones. I believe I’m privileged to have them as a support system in my life as they continue to have a huge impact on me as well as define who and what I am today.

Why ?
Life is too short and cruel; I want to seize its every moment. At any point in my life whether it’s a low or joyful point, I want to maintain that support system. My family and loved ones complement me and what I will always be regardless of what my goals are.

Sara AlShaikh, 21, United Arab Emirates

Sara

Name: Sara Al Shaikh
Age:21
Hometown: Sharjah, United Arab Emirates

What is your  goal?
Harmonize the dominating contemplative aspect of my personality with the more pragmatic one.

And why?
In a hectic & a highly materialized modern world, I intuitively yearn to moments of introspective reflection whereby I come to explore how & why my perceptions & convictions change and if they are to further evolve through this process. Yet, because of the necessity to ascertain an explicit resolution in order to move on, reality demands that I make a choice at the very same moment when contemplation instead promises to reveal a finer one.
As a constant dreamer whose thoughts easily drift to realms beyond, I have to say that this is a tug-of-war between my subconscious and conscious, a joyful struggle that declares neither a winner nor a loser, but rather in its very own existence yields life to an overwhelming subliminal streak of endless bliss.
