A new series

World Identity TRIPS is a new series to explore identities of cities and their people – live and directly – a bit like a journey diary if you like. Our first TRIP takes us to Poland’s capital Warsaw to visit Piotr, a good friend and contributor, who will show us some of his favourite places in his city.
Since the last time that I have been here, in 2007, it feels like a lot has changed. Warsaw has turned into a vibrating city full of young creative people who are motivated to move something. Many new clubs and cafes opened, as well as designshops, bookshops and art galleries. In front of the palace of culture (a controversial building which was a gift from the Russians in the 50s) a new museum for contemporary art will be built soon. In the next couple of days I will introduce you to some of Warsaw’s creative people and their work.
The first artist I would like to introduce is KRZYSZTOF PACHOLAK, a photographer, culture animateur and author of sozio-cultural projects. He has been living in Warsaw for several years and says, that each day he gets more addicted to this city. Krzysztof likes construction sites and the wilderness along the Vistula, the river that goes through Warsaw. I think he makes really nice photographs, not only of construction sites.
